Listeria monocytogenes strain:SA_SR | isolate:SA_SR Genome sequencing

We report the draft genome of Listeria monocytogenes isolate obtained from a cow dung sample that has been collected from a cattle farm in Bangladesh. There are not many genome sequences of this pathogen available from Bangladesh. This draft genome sequence will therefore give us information about the genomic makeup of Listeria monocytogenes circulating in Bangladesh and will provide invaluable insights into their evolution and ecology. Comparison of the genetic features with available databased from all around the world, will allow us to compare the findings for public health and food safety on a worldwide scale. This submission also aligns with larger efforts to improve genomic databases, and filling the gap of data from Bangladeshi origin of L. monocytogenes and push forward the discipline of bacterial genomics.
