Lake Ice Extent 2025-present (raster 500 m), global, daily - version 2

On a daily basis classifies pixels in global freshwater bodies into 1) Snow-covered ice, 2) Partially snow-covered or snow-free ice, 3) Open water, and 4) Cloud. The data is updated in near real-time with the spatial resolution of 500 m and with a temporal extent from July 2025 to present. Lake ice is a good climate indicator and interesting parameter in hydrological modelling, weather prediction and, after integration over time, estimating dates for ice phenology events (ice break-up, ice-off).
