The goals of this study include examining long-lasting changes in hippocampal gene expression in males and in females after a systemic, subchronic immune challenge and transcriptional response to a subsequent, acute immune insult Overall design: 6 experimental conditions, 3 replicates/condition: Long-Term (3 months after subchronic immune challenge), Long-term + acute (subchronic immune challenge + acute immune challenge 3 months later), Acute (6 hrs after single immune challenge); Control samples include Vehicle treated males (VVM) and Vehicle treated females (VVF) LPS.vehicle (LV) = the Long-Term condition LPS.LPS (LL) = the Long-term + acute condition vehicle.LPS (VL) = the Acute condition vehicle.vehicle (VV) = the Control condition
