Dissolved fatty acids and dicacids were determined in sea-surface microlayer (SML) and underlying water samples collected as part of the SO287 CONNECT cruise between 12/12/2021 and 08/01/2022. Sea-surface microlayer samples were collected using a Garrett screen either off the side of the ship or from the ship's RIB Zodiac. Underlying water samples were collected from either directly from an underway pump deployed through the ship's moonpool or from the CTD. Organic acids were determined by solid phase extraction followed by FAME derivatisation and quantification by GC-MS. These compounds are of interest because of their ability to react with ozone at the sea surface.
