Historical metallurgy and in particular bronze and other copper alloy metallurgy represents a research topic of strong importance in the study of the artistic and technological evolution of different civilizations. The current proposal represents the first phase of the CHNet-BRONZE project, and is part of a group of three, aiming at performing a basic calibration study starting from reference samples of known elemental, phase and microstructural composition. In this experiment we intend to evaluate the correct Uiso parameter for homogeneous, isotropic pure copper and pure lead phases by measuring metal powders of these two metals. We also wish to evaluate the peak broadening and Uiso effects related to the sample size so that the powder will be prepared within vanadium cans with different diameters.
