Pseudomonas C27 can conduct sulfide oxidizing process under heterotrophic condition with high efficiency, thus we termed this kind of bacteria as heterotrophic sulfide-oxidizing nitrate-reducing bacteria (h-soNRB). The genome sequencing was for exploring whether there are unique genes responsible for sulfide oxidation and further constructing the sulfur, nitrogen and organic carbon metabolism network in Pseudomonas C27. The discovery of essential role of h-soNRB under anaerobic and micro-aerobic conditions might provide us a new control means by changing or reconstructing the microbial community compositions with high abundance of h-soNRB to optimize the aeration rate for high IAHD performance.
