In the United States, when it comes to spending on private label consumer packaged goods categories as of June 2023, higher income shoppers allocated a smaller share compared to middle and low income shoppers. In the health and beauty category, for instance, private labels accounted for 13.9 percent of the spending share of low income shoppers, while the remaining portion was dedicated to branded products. Middle income consumers allocated 13.1 percent of their spend, whereas high income shoppers allocated only 10.7 percent.
