SWOT-derived reservoir dynamics in Central Asia: dataset and algorithms
收藏资源简介:
This dataset provides water surface elevation (WSE), surface area, and storage change time series for 28 reservoirs across the Ili, Syr Darya, and Amu Darya river basins in Central Asia from 2023 to 2026. The WSE time series were derived from the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission's LakeSP (Ver. D) product through multiple filtering approaches and an automated fusion algorithm. Reservoir surface area time series were constructed from the OPERA Dynamic Surface Water Extent product (DSWx-HLS), followed by manual visual inspection and quality control. The derived area–elevation (A–E) relationships and corresponding equations for all 28 reservoirs are also provided to support future reconstruction of reservoir hydrographs and storage variations. In addition, the source code and user guide for the newly developed XHan filter and auto-fusion algorithm are publicly released alongside the dataset. These resources aim to facilitate the broader application of SWOT LakeSP observations for monitoring surface water dynamics and support reproducible research on reservoir storage variations across different regions. Since the Auto-fusion algorithm incorporates the previously developed Heuristic Adaptive Lake Filter (HALF), users are encouraged to consult the original HALF study (Trudel et al., 2026) for further methodological details.
