US Army National Guard Cultural Resources Planning Level Survey - Nevada

In November 1997, St. Louis District personnel visited the Nevada Army National Guard (NVARNG) Headquarters in Carson City to research archaeological and historic building surveys conducted on National Guard facilities in the state.
This document reports the history of cultural investigations on federally owned or federally supported NVARNG facilities, lists archaeological sites recorded within facility boundaries, discusses historic contexts and predictive models, and provides a list of Native American tribes that may be culturally affiliated with archaeological collections recovered from NVARNG facilities.
To date, four archaeological sites have been recorded within the Stead Training Site and two sites have been recorded on the land for proposed National Guard facilities in Nevada. No historic building surveys have been conducted on any NVARNG property, and no cultural properties located on NVARNG facilities have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The extent, nature, and location of archaeological collections recovered from work conducted on NVARNG facilities will be determined in the second phase of this project, to be completed during Fiscal Year 1999.
