Multi-omics analysis of Canada geese microbiomes

The goals of this project were to quantify the efficacy of using simulated metagenomic tools that can be used instead of traditional sequencing methods. In this study, we compared the metagenome, metatranscriptome, and simulated metagenomes in resident Canada geese populations. We used PICRUSt2 and compared the number of and similarity of identified KEGG orthologies, Enzyme Commission numbers, and metabolic pathways. We aimed to determine if PICRUSt2 is a viable alternative to traditional sequencing methods in a non-model system.
