Group purchases for returned soldiers settlement holdings were introduced by the Returned Soldiers Settlement (Amendment) Act 1917 (Act No.24, 1917). This register contains a summary record of all the returned soldiers settlement holding group purchases in the Land District of Wagga Wagga, kept by the Wagga Wagga Lands Office.The register records information such as the year and number of the purchase, name and address of applicant, legal date of application, area applied for, date of confirmation, date of issue of grant, name and address of transferee, date of transfer, date of letter notifying registration of transfer, description of the land applied for, including capital value, payments made, period paid for, dates of payment, value of improvements and any further remarks. Payments recorded include: survey fee, amounts of rent paid, interest on late payments, date of payment and half year ending.
