Dermanura phaeotis (pygmy fruit-eating bat) genome, mDerPha1, sequence data

The pygmy fruit-eating bat (Dermanura phaeotis) is a bat of the family Phyllostomidae residing in the southern parts of North America and northern South America. Pygmy fruit-eating bats have been found at altitudes as high as 1200 m; however, they are much more commonly found at lower altitudes (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a male individual found in Orange Walk, Lamanai, Belize was procured by Nancy Simmons to generate a high-quality reference genome for Bat1K and the Bat Biology Foundation. Sequencing was conducted at Paratus Sciences and genome assembly was conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
