Replication Data for: Fostering Public Acceptance of Robotics Through Inclusive HRI Experiments: An Empirical Study

Study Overview: Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) Methodology: In this study, we used a two-step surveying approach to observe the change in users' opinion about robotics and HRI via a physical experiment. 31 participants completed pre- and post-experiment surveys after a physical collaborative lifting task with a UR5e cobot. User Perception Questionnaires Total of 9 perceptions investigated: Q1: I think robotics technology has developed a lot and it amuses me. Q2: I think robotics technology has developed a lot and it scares me. Q3: I think robots will take over human jobs and THEREFORE many people will be unemployed. Q4: I think robots will take over human jobs and BUT many new jobs opportunities will be formed. Q5: I think robots will take over heavy human jobs and the average life quality will increase. Q6: I prefer humans and robots work together instead of removing either of them from the picture. Q7: I believe there are many jobs that humans cannot be as good as robots. Q8: I believe there are many jobs that robots will never be as good as humans. Q9: I believe that robots will take over the world and destroy humankind one day. Investigated User Parameters The shift was investigated based on these 9 parameters: Age and Sex Current and Past Gaming Habits Programming Experience Familiarity to Robotics Field Proximity to Robots (e.g., robot cleaners) Familiarity to Industrial Robots Interest in Robotics
