资源简介:
This report summarizes the optimization and the analysis that anticipate the experimental investigation of two super-cavitating hydrofoils in fully submerged operating conditions. The scope of the experimental campaign is to test two different geometries, namely a benchmark hydrofoil, and a geometry optimized using our scalable framework for hierarchical design under uncertainty. The shape of the benchmark hydrofoil is the result of previous optimization studies performed using conventional Genetic Algorithms. The novelty of the hydrofoil shape presented in this study, lies in the concept of a hybrid subcavitating/supercavitating wing section, designed for the top speed of 120 knots, but capable of performing also at lower speed when operating at different flow regimes. The shape was patented by team member Dr. Brizzolara. During this project, we successfully completed the design by optimization of a complex geometry operating in extreme conditions in terms of flow regime, velocity and pressure distributions. During the first two phases of EQUiPS, we concentrated our efforts on the optimization of a full-scale version of the super-cavitating hydrofoil.
