Modelling of pressure drop in periodic square-bar packed beds

This dataset contains numerical simulation results of fluid flow through packed-bed geometries composed of stacked square bars arranged in disk-shaped modules. The geometrical configurations are generated by systematically varying the relative rotation angle between modules, enabling the investigation of a complex flow field. The simulations were performed using the open-source CFD toolbox OpenFOAM-12 for Reynolds numbers up to 200 (based on bar size). The dataset includes velocity and pressure fields, as well as derived quantities such as friction factor and permeability. Selected configurations (e.g., α = 30°, Rep = 100 and 200) were validated against Particle Image Velocimetry measurements. This dataset can be used for validation of numerical models, development of closure relations, and further studies on flow through porous media with complex geometries.
