Data-Driven Processes for Police Reform and Accountability DescriptionPolice officers’ experiences of compassion fatigue and compassion fatigue’s impact on officers’ caring behaviors are the focus of this article. As a best practice program, the Memphis Model stands alone as a critical source of information for actual evidence-based results concerning police reform and accountability. The Memphis Model should be evaluated for effectiveness with the ability to identify, track, and survey issues promoting a culture of police care and compassion which are vital in modernizing police departments.Compassion fatigue and compassion satisfaction were assessed using the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL V). Caring behaviors were assessed using the Caring Behaviors Inventory (CBI), featuring five sub-scales: respectful deference to others, assurance of human presence, positive connectedness, professional knowledge and skill, and attentiveness to others’ experience. Descriptive statistics are presented in Table 3.
