VPRS 9982 Reconciled Establishment Lists

A scheme to set up a Data Base of Personnel and Establishment records was approved by the Public Service Board in December 1974. The aim of the project was to provide a comprehensive data base facility in respect of all personnel and establishment records, accessible to both individual Departments and the Boards office. The initial stage of the scheme involved the reconciliation of departmental establishment records with those held in the Boards office. The work was completed in 1976.This series comprises volumes containing establishment lists of the Departments reconciled with the Board records by the Establishment Section of the Public Service Board (VA 886) during the period 1974 to 1976.The Establishment Section was responsible for the production of the Public Service List and the control of the Establishment of Permanent Officers.The records relate to the creation of permanent offices to replace all temporary positions of 15 years standing and which had duties of a permanent nature. The Board initiated action to have permanent establishment offices created to replace approximately 2,700 long established temporary positions which had permanent duties. The Boards Establishment Records were reconciled to those of the Departments. At the time of the reconciliation each position was alloted a code number for correspondence betweemn the Board and the department and later as the code number for E.D.P. input. The Department then formally applied to the Board and the Treasury for creation of offices to replace the long term temporary positions.The information recorded on these sheets includes :Position Number (marked with red ink)Title of the PositionClassificationName of the OccupantName of the Department and the Branch.
