Amblyomma sculptum is a tick commonly found in southeastern Brazil, and its hematophagic habit with hosts from the region increases its importance in the epidemiology of zoonoses. This samples characterized the microbiome of free-living A. sculptum ticks in a Brazilian Spotted Fever (BSF) endemic region to understand the diversity of the microbiota and the presence of rickettsiosis, using 16S gene sequencing.
