A pot experiment with planting of Chinese milk vetch (Astragalus sinicus L.) was conducted in two acidic and neutral paddy soils. Soils were sampled at the full blooming stage of Chinese milk vetch. The main objective is to compare the divergent roles of two carbon substrates (rice straw vs. glucose) varying in chemical recalcitrance in structuring soil diazotroph community which express nifH gene.
