We are currently doing research on CKD pathophysiology and the relatedmolecular target(s) finding in Medical Innovation Center, which program is operated by both Kyoto University and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporationfor discovery of innovative drug(s) for medication of the disease. In our research laboratory, three principal investigators, being assigned for 3 to 5 years in behalf of TMK project, are contributed to these researchactivities/outcomes at help of research staff joining from the sponsoringcompany. The comprehensive and integrated collaboration between industry and academiais performed in combination of the research forces of basic and clinicalmedical science with drug-discovery science, so that unmet medical needsare filled the gap by covering with the innovative drugs and the therapies.On the basis of elucidation of the pathophysiology, we are aiming to createnew innovative drugs/therapies from finding the molecule(s) related todrug to target(S) for CKD treatment. On the incidence and development of the disease, we are trying to understandaccurate mechanisms more profoundly, thus leading to medical innovationand new value creation in CKD treatment.
