Javanese medaka, Oryzias javanicus has been introduced as a potential model test organism for marine pollution studies. Molecular studies on this fish detected cytochrome P450 1a (cyp1a) as an important gene that play roles in oxidative metabolism of various exogenous and endogenous substances. We established the cyp1a-knockout O. javanicus using CRISPR/Cas 9 system and demonstrated their sensitivity to different exogenous compounds. However, the effect of the cyp1a gene knockout on the fish's endogenous compound metabolism is not yet examined. The aim of this project is to compare the gene expression profiles of both the wild-type and cyp1a-knockout O. javanicus using transcriptomic analysis.
