RNA sequencing of top three and bottom three chicken males in breast muscle weight from an F2 intercross between Nagoya and White Plymouth Rock breeds

An F2 population consisting of 119 males and 120 females was generated by crossing three males of the Nagoya breed with four females of the White Plymouth Rock breed, as described by Ishikawa et al. (Life, 11: 754, 2021). From this male population, the top three and bottom three individuals with the highest and lowest breast muscle weights, respectively, were selected. Total RNA was individually extracted from their livers and subjected to RNA-seq analysis.
