The Parliament of the Revolution

1) Collective biographical analysis of the delegates’ life-cycles, who belonged to the first ‘Raetekongress’ in December 1918. The investigation concentrates especially on the political and professional career patterns of the delegates before their delegation to the so called ‘Raetekongress’. 2) Content analysis of Congress transcripts and relevant articles in the press. Topics: a) Variables of the life-cycle: - school and occupational training - occupation held at the time of the Raetekongress - offices held in politics and in the worker movement (Members of the Reichstag at the time of the Kaiserreich/ the Weimar Republic, Members of the Land Parliaments at the time of the Kaiserreich/the Weimar Republic); b) Analysis of Congress organization (management of rules of procedure - speech activity, speech frequency, petitions - creation of fractions, working groups, etc.). 1) Kollektivbiographische Untersuchung der Lebensläufe der Delegierten des 1. Rätekongresses im Dezember 1918 in Berlin vor allem im Hinblick auf politische und berufliche Karrieremuster vor der Delegation zum Rätekongress. 2) Inhaltsanalyse des Kongressprotokolls und der einschlägigen Artikel in der Presse. Themen: a) allgemeine Lebenslaufvariablen: - schulische und berufliche Ausbildung - ausgeübter Beruf zum Zeitpunkt des Rätekongresses - Ämter in Politik und in der Arbeiterbewegung (Reichstagsabgeordnete Kaiserreich / Weimarer Republik, Landtagsabgeordnete Kaiserreiche / Weimarer Republik); b)Analyse der Organisation des Kongresses (Handhabung der Geschäftsordnung-, Redetätigkeit, Redehäufigkeit, Anträge - Fraktionsbildung, Arbeitsgruppen u.a.).
