Data for manuscript: Techno-economics and value judgments of modeling biochar production for carbon removal in climate change mitigation scenarios

This data archive contains the data collection on biochar production, REMIND scenario data, and the data analysis files for the manuscript: Techno-economics and value judgments of modeling biochar production for carbon removal in climate change mitigation scenarios biochar_production_data(directory) contains the data collected for biochar production, i.e. production cost, efficiencies, and current biochar prices, as well as the related plotting routines to generate the figures of the manuscript.scenario_results(directory) contains the REMIND scenario results data and the related plotting routines to generate the figures of the manuscript. The REMIND code is available under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPLv3) via GitHub https://github.com/remindmodel/remind. We use a model version based on REMINDv3.4.0 that additionally includes the biochar production technologies. The source code is available on GitHub at https://github.com/tabeado/remind/tree/Biochar_Paper. The scenario configurations are set in remind/config/scenario_config_Biochar_MAIN_EJ100.csv. The R-library package used for post-processing of REMIND was extended to cover biochar production and is available here: https://github.com/tabeado/remind2/tree/Biochar_Paper.
