A large granitic pestle was recovered from the George Sellar Bridge Site, 45DO695, East Wenatchee, in central Washington, and submitted for protein residue, organic residue (FTIR), starch and pollen grain analysis. The site is located along a narrow terrace tread on the east bank of the Columbia River, within lands historically associated with Salish speaking groups. Sinkayuse and Wenatchi villages are located nearby. Entiat and Chelan use of this area is also reported. The pestle was recovered at a depth of 152 cm below site datum in massive sand deposits. No artifacts were associated with the pestle and no date range has been established.
