The aim of this study was to investigate differences in gene expression across the wheat spike. To achieve this, individual wheat spikes (cv Paragon) were dissected into apical, central, and basal sections (1:1:1 size ratio). For each section from a single spike, an individual RNA-Seq library was generated and then sequenced. Plants were grown under control conditions and samples were collected at two consecutive developmental stages, Double Ridge (DR) and Glume Primordia (GP).
