Narcine bancroftii (lesser electric ray) transcriptome, sNarBan1

The lesser electric ray (Narcine bancroftii) is a species of numbfish in the family Narcinidae found on the western coastal fringes of the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. It is a small slow-moving fish, living in the surf zone of sandy or muddy beaches (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a male individual found in Apalachee Bay near Panacea, Florida, was procured by Gavin Naylor at Gulf Specimens Lab to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
