The dataset contains 1,202 JPEG images and 8,882 annotated instances of pollen grains collected in Italy. Images were acquired at 40× magnification (objective lens) using light microscopes equipped with digital cameras with 3–5 megapixel sensors. The original images were saved in BMP format and subsequently converted to JPEG. Bounding-box annotations were created for 20 pollen taxa and 5 fungal spore taxa using the Roboflow platform
