Stock of motor vehicles in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1948 and 1992

This data set covers the development of the stock of motor vehicles in the FRG. Goal of the study is to make changes in the data collection system transparent and comprehensible. For example, for some years the vehicles which had a registration number but which did not require authorization were listed separately. Later those vehicles were assigned to the vehicles that require authorization. This resulted in a strong increase in the stock of motor vehicles in 1980 which cannot be reduced to an increase in purchases.

- Authorized motor vehicles (explicitly mentioned: motorcycles, passenger cars, ambulances, omnibuses, trucks, tractors)
