Translation and validation of the Thai version of the Oral Health-related Caregiver Burden Index (OHBI) among caregivers of patients living with neurocognitive disorders

Aims: To translate a Thai version of the Oral Health-related Caregiver Burden Index (OHBI) to be used with caregivers in Thailand. And evaluated the reliability and validity of this questionnaire to be used with caregivers in Thailand. Methods and Results: The Japanese version of OHBI was translated and adapted into Thai. The content validity and face validity were accessed. The Thai version of OHBI was conducted among 60 caregivers of a patient living with Major neurocognitive disorder (MNDs) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) via an online platform. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha (0.753-0.864). Test-retest reliability was assessed using intraclass correlation (0.296-0.645). The Mann-Whitney U test showed a significant difference for discriminant validity. Conclusion: The translation and adaptation of the Thai version of OHBI were successful. The preliminary test of the Thai version of OHBI showed acceptable reliability and validity results for this questionnaire. However, the implementation of the tool may still require further improvement.
