Lippia Alba Genetic Diversity & Structure

This study was conducted by Universidad del Cauca, Facultad de Ciencias Naturales, Exactas y de la Educacion. Lippia alba (Mill.) N.E.Brown is one of the medicinal plants most used by indigenous communities of the Cauca region in Colombia and is known in several regions of South America for its anti-infectious properties and effects on the nervous system, however the genetic relationships of the species in different regions of Colombia are still unknown. The results of this study will contribute to understanding the genetic resources of this important medicinal species in the region, a topic that is relevant for the establishment of future programs for the conservation and genomic selection reduction of the core collection of the species.
