Mechanical Model Ice Properties measured during Weakening Experiments at the HSVA LIMB

The dataset contains derived mechanical properties and metadata from experiments conducted on two ice sheets (Nr. I and Nr. III) at the Large Ice Model Basin in the Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA). Ice sheet Nr. I was designed to test different model-ice surface-layer treatments to weaken the ice. The presented results include flexural strength and mean E-modulus values, along with the corresponding standard deviations, from areas subjected to different treatments. Ice sheet Nr. III was produced to investigate the effect of different amounts of saturated NaCl solution or dry salt distributed on the ice, which caused different strong melting of the surface layer. The table includes data on flexural strength, measured E-modulus (obtained via plate-bending tests), and numerically derived E-modulus (determined from cantilever beam test measurement data and methods described in von Bock and Polach (2021, 2023)).
