Phenology, outer fruit and inner fruit traits in the FruitBreedomics genetic resources material

This dataset contains phenotypic data for apple genetic resources from six European institutes. A total of 1350 unique genotypes (mainly old dessert apple cultivars) were phenotyped for at least one trait. Seven traits, flowering period, harvest date, fruit size, given in three forms, fruit size class, fruit average weight, fruit diameter, fruit over-color, fruit acidity, fruit crispness, fruit juiciness and fruit sweetness, are made available in this dataset. The data were obtained from 1984 to 2014, as part of the genetic resources characterization mission of the institutes. Traits were evaluated according to the recommendations of the European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR). The first version of this dataset was used in the paper by Cazenave et al. (2021) "Combining genetic resources and elite material populations to improve the accuracy of genomic prediction in apple", G3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics.
