Common Indo-European Origins and Development Paths of the Lexeme "Bul" and its Derivatives in Russian and Other Languages

This article is devoted to the etymological analysis of a wide range of Russian and borrowed words united by a common root image associated with the concepts of «bubble», «thickening», «boiling». Special attention is paid to identifying common Indo-European roots and their differentiated development in various language families, including Russian, Romance, and Germanic languages. The author proposes to revise established etymological versions based on a deep analysis of dialectal forms, onomatopoeia, and historical contexts, including the role of the Old Russian princess Anne Yaroslavna in cultural exchange, which may have contributed not so much to borrowings as to the actualization of common root meanings.
