Data on aquaculture loss due to climate variability and extremes

Generating aquaculture loss data due to climate variability and extreme events from newspapers was accomplished in 3 phases. In the first phase, we extracted relevant newspaper articles. in the second phase, we created a labelling system using Tagtog and then labelled the articles for the desired loss data, and lastly, we extracted these labeled data for analysis. We considered the following prominent English newspapers in Bangladesh: The Daily Star, Dhaka Tribune, The Independent, and The New Age for eleven years (2011-2021) to scrape the relevant aquaculture loss and damage news. We used SerpAPI to extract relevant newspaper articles using relevant keywords. The scraped articles were then labelled by an expert annotator who has expertise in aquaculture, and then reviewed and modified by another expert annotator.
