Primary Cutaneous Nocardiosis: A Systematic Review

During the preparation of our manuscript, we observed that existing studies have documented a steadily increasing trend in Nocardia infections worldwide, a pattern that is expected to persist given the rising awareness and improved diagnostic techniques. To date, studies specifically focusing on the clinical and epidemiological characterization of cutaneous nocardiosis remain limited, despite its recognition as an important clinical subtype within the broader classification of Nocardia infections. We analyzed the publication years of relevant case reports, and the literature indicates a gradual yet consistent increase in the number of reported cases over time.

To address this gap, we developed a systematic literature search strategy based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The PRISMA statement comprises both a checklist and a flow diagram, into which we incorporated our literature search methods, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and other relevant sections of the review. This dataset contains supplementary materials for the systematic review, including the PRISMA 2020 checklist and flow diagram, which comprehensively document the search strategy and study selection process. This approach ensures methodological transparency, facilitates reproducibility, and provides a structured reference for future related studies.
