<p>This survey was conducted in 2004, given to actors occupying nine district roles in two communities of New York's Northern Forest. These communities were selected to compare forest management priorities across places with divergent economic orientations. The survey asked about the repsondent's use of the forest, their self-peceived notion of what entails a &quot;working forest&quot; and its uses, their opnions on policy tools, and demographics information.</p>
