National Survey of Healthcare Organizations and Systems Version 2 Summary Public Use Datasets 2022-2023

With funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (#78479), we were able to conduct a second round of the Primary and Multispecialty Care Physician Practices survey, called NSHOS II, which was fielded from June 2022 to February 2023. Our sample consisted of prior study respondent practices and a stratified random selection of additional practices based on FQHC status, area deprivation, and ownership type (independent, medical group, system). Analyses were performed using survey weights to account for the probability that a practice was part of the original, prior study sample or was sampled from the sampling frame of eligible practices (established based on OneKey's 2022 population of medical practices in the US), and whether the practice responded to our survey (to account for nonresponse).We surveyed practice managers and physicians in primary and multispecialty care physician practices that responded to the NSHOS I survey or had at least three primary care physicians. We defined physician practices as a single location practice. Primary care physicians included family medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, or preventive medicine specialties. We sampled 3498 practices and obtained 1245 responses.
