资源简介:

Dislocations, line defects in metals which carry plastic deformation, are oriented objects, which poses issues for continuum models of their motion. Local collections of dislocations around a point could have cancellation in their line orientation vectors. In order to assess the degree to which this occurs in practice, the orientation statistics of local collections of dislocations is assessed from simulations of discrete dislocation dynamics. This dataset includes the simulation data and all scripts needed to reproduce the figures present in the publication which it accompanies. Especially, this code obtains contributions of line segments to various local collections in the crystal, the spatial extent of which are specified in the calculations. This code, as a result, is capable of studying the transition from length scale regimes where the orientation statistics are sharply defined (at fine scales) to regimes where the orientation statistics are more broadly distributed (at long scales).

As mentioned, this code reproduces the figures in the accompanying paper. However, some data has been omitted for size considerations, especially those portions which are calculated by intermediate steps in the code:

1. The raw discrete dislocation dynamics files (used by a_obtainRaytables) are omitted but the resulting segment tables are included

2. The density tables, where dislocations are assigned to local collections with weights, are also omitted. However, they can all be regenerated using the a_obtainDensityTables script.

Figure scripts are labeled accordingly.
