PREVENTING CYBERCRIME THROUGH ENHANCING LEGAL AND DIGITAL LITERACY OF THE POPULATION

This article examines the role of enhancing legal and digital literacy of the population as an effective means of preventing cybercrime. In the context of rapid digitalization, the lack of awareness of legal norms and basic cybersecurity principles among citizens has become one of the key factors contributing to the growth of cyber-related offenses. Cyber fraud, identity theft, phishing attacks, and misuse of personal data often result from insufficient legal knowledge and low levels of digital competence. The purpose of the study is to analyze the importance of legal and digital literacy in reducing cybercrime risks and to identify effective educational and preventive measures aimed at strengthening public resilience to cyber threats. The research is based on legal analysis, review of international and national practices, and evaluation of preventive approaches used in cybersecurity awareness programs.
