资源简介:
"This is how we get our boys at first, dressed in a bit of dirty cloth and a string of beads round his neck. He must either bring a rupee (1/4) or else do a fortnight's work on the farm as a surety of his earnestness. Having done so, he is admitted a boarder." Portrait of an indigenous boy standing by gate, dressed only in a cloth rag. ❧ "This Lecture was prepared by Dr J.W. Arthur in October 1911 on his voyage to Mombasa. The set of slides is the gift to the Kikuyu Mission of the Young Peoples Meeting at the Burgh Hall, Hillhead, of which he was for many years a member." A green folder marked 'Kikuyu' and containing lecture notes and relevant photographs to accompany lantern slides.
