Gut Microbiota of Community-dwelling Older Adults from the AGELESS Cohort

This study used 16S rRNA gene sequencing of 231 older adults in Selangor, Malaysia, to examine the gut microbiota. This study aims to assess the association between gut microbiota with intestinal permeability, inflammatory markers and various other parameters in older adults. This information can be used to better understand how the microbiome evolves with ageing. Ultimately, it might result in new perspectives and approaches to promote healthy aging and prevent age-related diseases.
