The aim of this study was to identify human intestinal bacteria responding to fucoidan from Okinawa mozuku (Cladosiphon okamuranus). Human fecal enrichment cultures were prepared by inoculating human fecal samples into mineral media supplemented with fucoidan extracted from Okinawa mozuku (Cladosiphon okamuranus) and 16S rRNA profiles of the bacteria grown in each culture were investigated. 16S rRNA profile of fecal microbiota of a volunteer consuming Okinawa mozuku for 7 days were also investigated.
