Biological nitrogen fixation rates in unmanaged ecosystems and agriculture in Latin America

This dataset contains three tables. Table 1 includes literature data on symbiotic, free-living, and total biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) rates (kgN.ha-1.y-1) from unmanaged ecosystems in Latin America. Table 2 contains rates of BNF and acetylene reduction in free-living compartments from nitrogen fertilization experiments conducted in unmanaged moist forests in Latin America. Table 3 includes BNF rates for major crops and pasture in Latin America from the literature.
