Infection of plants with nematodes induces systemic changes throughout the plant and even influences the progeny. To study this in rice (cv Kitaake) infected with Meloidogyne graminicola, the spatiotemporal small RNA (sRNA) profile of nematode-infected plants is investigated. Systemic root and shoot samples were taken 3 days post inoculation (vegetative phase) and at seed set (generative phase). From the generative plants, also embryo and endosperm was collected from the seeds. The sRNA profile of these samples was subsequently generated with sRNA-seq.
