Stability of a coupled string-Rayleigh beam system with indefinite sign damping

In this paper, we address a stabilisation problem for a coupled string-beam system with damping of indefinite sign. The main step involves studying the distribution of the spectrum using detailed spectral analysis. Moreover, when the damping term is of indefinite sign, we discuss the condition of how negative it could be in order that the system always remains exponentially stable.
