Vegetation Survey Points - CDFW [ds1020]

This dataset shows the locations of various types of vegetation surveys taken to support the classification and mapping of vegetation throughout the State of California. Most surveys will have a vegetation name that is either accepted by California Department of Fish and Wildlifes Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program (VegCAMP) and the California Native Plant Society (CNPS), or is undergoing a vetting process. The majority of the surveys have associated plant cover data related to each point. The goal of this dataset is to share ground based vegetation observations and instances of vegetation at the finest classification level (association), as most of the published maps of vegetation are at a coarser classification level (alliance). The surveys also have their related species cover values associated with them. This dataset is not comprehensive for California, as surveys from recent projects are in the process of having plants keyed, undergoing QC, and being classified.
