The bee louse fly Braula coeca is a blind and wingless fly that lives as an inquiline (likely kleptoparasite) in the nests of the Western honey bee Apis mellifera. In this study, we assembled and annotated a genome of a population of B. coeca collected on the island of Ouessant in France to determine its phylogenetic position within the Drosophilidae and to investigate the effect of inquilinism on genome evolution.
