Ohio Thunderstorm Survey

A common complaint of "warm season" weather forecasts is that thunderstorms seem to be in the forecast nearly every day even though they only occur every now and then. Just how often are thunderstorms forecast across Ohio and how often do they actually occur? Are thunderstorms forecast too often and too far in advance? This study attempts to answer these questions by verifying predictions of thunderstorms in the Ohio Zone Forecasts and the Extended Forecasts. In addition, the performance of some thunderstorm guidance products in Ohio was investigated.
