Wheat (Triticum aestivum) variety trials conducted under organic management within the EXPEBIO varietal screening program from 1999 to 2021

This database originates from field trials conducted between 1999 and 2021 by CREABIO at the La Hourre experimental site (southwestern France) and was compiled by ITAB. These trials aimed to evaluate the agronomic performance of soft wheat (Triticum aestivum) varieties and their response to fertilization under organic management. In total, 160 varieties or variety mix were tested with 14 fertilization rates.The trials were implemented using a split-plot design with 3 replicates.The database includes information on:- Field operations: sowing, fertilization, weed control, and harvesting- Production performance: grain yield, protein content, and specific weight- Yield components: plants density (plants/m²), ears density (ears/m²) and grains density (grains/m ²)- Growth monitoring: early and late growth habit, vegetative and reproductive phase vigour and height at maturity)- Susceptibility to various pathogens: Zymoseptoria tritici (Mycosphaerella graminicola), Puccinia striiformis (P. glumarum), and Puccinia recondita. In addition, the database contains daily weather data (minimum, maximum, mean temperature and rainfall) recorded at the on-site meteorological station during the trial period, as well as several soil descriptors.
